TRADITIONAL WORSHIP
AT CENTAL

The Traditional Music Ministry of Central United Protestant Church has a long-standing history of excellence. Here at CUP, music has always been an essential part of what we do as a church. We believe quality music is vital to a rich, meaningful worship experience. Because of that, we invest heavily in our music programs and resources.  We value those who volunteer their time and talents to minister through music.

We’re honored and privileged to serve the church and surrounding community through our music - from singing opportunities in our Worship Team, Special Music, and culminating with our Chancel Choir we value traditional music. As such, we place importance on the involvement of laity and expanding our reach both internally and externally.

Sacred music is a gift that connects us, unites us, heals us, inspires us, teaches us, sustains us, and often expresses what words alone cannot. This belief is at the core of what the CUP Music Ministry has worked for so many years to provide—to draw people closer to Christ through our music, our worship, and our witness.

WORSHIP

SERVICE FLOW

When you attend the Traditional Service at Central Church, you will experience an inspiring message from Pastor John Mars, time for prayer, and music from our Chancel Choir and Worship Team.

The worship service usually begins with a prelude played by one of our organists or pianists, starting at ten minutes before 10:00 am, as people are arriving.  The Chancel Choir sings a Call to Worship at 10:00 am, followed by a few announcements from one of our Pastors.  Then the Worship Team, including singers, piano, organ, violins, viola, cello and trumpet, leads the congregation in singing hymns and praise songs.  This is followed by a prayer, led by one of our pastors, with the congregation joining in with the Lord's Prayer.  Next, the Choir sings a song or there is music by a soloist or small ensemble, followed by the sermon and a closing congregational song.  On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Holy Communion with bread and juice, following the sermon.

Facemasks are optional in the Sanctuary. For people who prefer being in a space where facemasks are required, the worship service is televised into our Chapel which is located next to the main church entrance. The weekly services can also be viewed online at any time.

Traditional Worship starts at 10 a.m. every Sunday.
