• Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person Location of job site is in Richland, WA 99354
The major qualification for this role is the ability to manage the physical tasks associated with the position.

Benefits

The hourly range for this position starts at $17/hour hourly rate increases depending on experience and qualifications

Purpose
To assist the custodial team in the general cleaning and upkeep of the church facilities. Provide event setup and tear down as directed.

Primary Duties

  • Perform daily pre-assigned work tasks (see list below).

  • Set up and tear down of tables and chairs as needed for room activities.

  • Lock/unlock building, set/disarm alarms on daily basis.

  • Ensure Heat/AC, lighting is turned on/off at appropriate time.
    Vacuum, dust, clean windows, empty trash containers, sweep and mop floors.

  • Move tables chairs, couches and other heavier items.

  • Remove marks, smudges, etc. from walls and baseboards.

  • Wash tables, chairs, furniture as needed.

  • Bathroom cleaning including all toilet fixtures and floors.

  • Check and refill paper products and soap dispensers.

  • Carpet Cleaning, including spot cleaning as needed.

  • Stock supplies in kitchens and kitchenettes as needed.

  • Notify appropriate person when supplies need to be ordered.

  • Sweep, vacuum and maintain exterior entry ways.

  •  Stripping, waxing and burnishing floors as needed.

  • Based on the current day/evening work schedule, perform other work assignments as required.
    Inform Custodial Supervisor of maintenance needs.

  • Lawn mowing, raking leaves, shoveling snow off the sidewalks.
     
    Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner without direct supervision.

  • Ability to work well with others under time deadlines and stress.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to read and understand, and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

    Education/Training

  • Custodial experience preferred but not required

    All employees are required to pass a criminal background check prior to start of employment. All employees must understand that they are a part of a Christian church in this regard.

  •   The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights of 40' or more on lifts or work platforms.

  • Must be able to work outdoors.

  • Must be able to work with cleaning, painting, gluing, and other maintenance chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • The Facilities Custodian is responsible to assist the Central Church Team in general facilities cleaning and basic maintenance operations for the Church and Child Care.

  • This position reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor.

  • Maintains working hours as determined by the needs of position.

  • Attends staff meetings, retreats, and other functions as directed.

  • General facilities cleaning including but not limited to emptying the trash, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and polishing hard surface floors.

  • Basic facilities maintenance tasks as assigned including but not limited to patching/painting, desk repair, basic plumbing maintenance/repair.

  • General landscaping maintenance as assigned: rough mowing of non-lawn areas of property, weeding in window wells, keeping parking lots and sidewalks clean and clear of trash, possible snow and ice removal in the winter.

  • Keep up general maintenance of equipment.

  • Locking/unlocking buildings, activating/deactivating the security system.

  • Perform other facilities related duties as assigned with demonstrated flexibility in scheduling and job assignment.

  • Ability to seek direction, and follow through on assigned tasks.

  • Maintains a personal appearance that is clean, modest, and in good taste.

  • Develops and maintains rapport with staff, volunteers and visitors to promote a positive relational work environment.
