National Outreach
This is a new ministry that Central Church has been building over the last few years. We view National Outreach as an opportunity for helping reach the lost and hurting peoples throughout our nation. In the past few years Central Church has traveled to Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina and Rita and provided much needed support and relief. Recently, Central Church has worked with World Relief in Seattle helping to make positive changes in the lives of our growing refugee population and have worked alongside Bridgetown Ministries in Portland feeding and ministering to the homeless.
National Outreach is a new and exciting ministry that welcomes anyone who has a heart for the lost and hurting people throughout the United States.

Helping a neighboring Mabton church with not only funding but hands and eyes to oversee repairs on their building. Rain gutters were installed which were needed to end a flooding problem that had been an issue.
The National team is looking forward to another year of serving our neighbors whatever and wherever the needs may be.

Alaska was the destination for our National Outreach Teams first short-term mission trip after the Global Impact Celebration in February. Eight members from Central and three members from two other Tri-City Methodist Churches met in Girdwood, Alaska to help complete the Girdwood Chapel, UMC. Five days were spent in ths beautiful forrest community putting up sheet rock, insulation, and completing the siding. While in Alaska this group experienced God's glory in Nature. Sightseeing trips included a boat trip out of Seward that brought marvelous views of glaciers, otters, eagles, puffins, and whales! Even though this trip for many, was their first mission trip, they came back home with the desire to minister to others and to be on missions in the future!

This summer our national team's trip to Portland offered the opportunity collect blankets and socks to donate to Bridgetown Ministries. Central's summer Vacation Bible School program gave over 200 pairs of socks to this outreach and members of our church traveled to Portland on a few different, Friday nights to become engaged in Bridgetown's Nightstrike, which included not only feeding the homeless, but also washing the feet of our fellow man, clothing and sock distribution, prayer walks, conversations and prayers with many that we had the privelegde to serve.
Our teams desire is to have an ongoing relationship with Bridgetown Ministries and continue to offer our support, collect needed donations and to continue with short-term trips throughout the coming year.
